Charities and community groups across the North East and North Cumbria are being encouraged to apply for grants to support projects which enhance the quality of life of people affected by cancer.
Northern Cancer Alliance’s two funds are open for applications to support initiatives which improve people’s health and wellbeing until 16 November.
Living with and Beyond Cancer Fund
This provides grants of up to £10,000 for prehabilitation or support services. Prehabilitation supports patients to improve their physical, emotional and psychological health before and during treatment, helping them to feel stronger and recover sooner.
Projects must be aligned to, and work with, local hospital trusts when being delivered.
This provides grants of up to £1,000 to small, local charitable groups for activities which connect people with communities.
Charities and community groups in North Cumbria need to apply for both funds via Cumbria Community Foundation.
Clare Doney, Clinical Lead for Living with and Beyond Cancer at Northern Cancer Alliance, said: “It’s so important that people who are affected by cancer have access to support or activities that help enhance their physical, nutritional and mental wellbeing.
“By providing funding directly to charities and community groups, we are helping to ensure that this support is community-based and available closer to home.
“We’d encourage any charity or community group working to improve the quality of life for people living with cancer to apply for projects that can help make a positive difference.”
