Meet the Team… Clare Doney, Clinical Lead for Personalised Care
Hi I’m Clare Doney, the clinical lead for personalised care for the Northern Cancer Alliance covering the North East and North Cumbria. I’ve been in this role for 5 years and also work as the Lead Cancer Nurse for County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust. My job is to provide clinical input and leadership around the quality of care given to cancer patients including the cancer patient experience, prehabilitation, personalised care interventions and living with and beyond cancer.
Before I started my current roles I worked in a variety of cancer nursing settings since I first qualified as a nurse in 1998 which have included oncology wards and outpatient departments as well as a period working in the United Arab Emirates as an oncology and haematology nurse.
I have always had a keen interest in service improvement, innovation and research and was proud to complete my Elizabeth Garrett Anderson MSc in Healthcare Leadership. I continue to draw on what I learnt during this time in each day of my practice now and this helped me greatly when I was a service improvement facilitator, looking at cancer pathway improvement for the Northern Cancer Alliance prior to starting this role.
On a personal note I lead a very active, family and friends focused life. We have 4 children, 2 dogs and 4 cats so life is never dull!
If you have any queries or would like to know more about the Northern Cancer Alliance approach to delivering personalised care then I’d love you to get in touch.
