Northern Cancer Alliance has today published its Annual Report 2025/2026 which highlights the progress made over the past year across the North East and North Cumbria.
This has been a busy and productive year, with continued focus on earlier diagnosis, reducing inequalities, improving pathways and performance, and supporting people living with and beyond cancer.
Some of our key achievements included:

- Reaching a milestone of 1,000 lung cancers diagnosed through the screening programme, with three out of four identified at an earlier, more treatable, stage.
- Continued expansion of work in communities, engaging more people and increasing awareness of cancer symptoms and screening.
- Progress in improving cancer pathways in primary and secondary care.
- Supporting more than 30 community projects to improve quality of life for people living with cancer.
- Our popular webinars which help upskill our cancer workforce and facilitate learning and networking.
The report also reflects the collaboration and commitment of colleagues, partners, patients and communities across our system, all working together to improve cancer care.
