Colorectal Cancer MDT Training Day
Friday 6 May 2022 from 2pm – 4pm.
The training event was delivered by Mr Peter Coyne, Colorectal Surgeon and his colleagues from Newcastle Hospitals.
The aim of the day was to provide some basic colorectal cancer teaching, including pathology, surgery, radiology, oncology, pathways and the patient perspective, for MDT Co-ordinators and Administrators who may not have had any medical training or input to help with their vital role.

MDT Decision Making: The Emperor’s New Clothes
All cancer decisions in the UK Have to be made through an MDT. MDTs are expensive and involvement of the patient in the decision can be difficult. In this talk I will explore the challenges that we face when involving patients in complex team decisions and the sorts of things we can do to try and overcome them.
