Primary Care

Welcome to the Primary Care Professionals Area.

Our work with primary care aims to support earlier diagnosis of cancer and improve patient experience and outcomes.

We do this by:

• increasing awareness of signs and symptoms
• improving screening uptake
• improving timely referral supported by national and local guidance and decision support tools
• addressing unwarranted variation and inequalities in cancer pathways
• identifying and implementing innovations in primary care.

A key element of our focus is communication and collaboration across pathways from community awareness, through to primary and secondary care and community support services.

This section of our website will continue to be developed and updated with resources for GPs and primary care teams to support early diagnosis and understanding cancer pathways.
