Breast – Primary Care
The Fast Track Suspected Cancer referrals have been developed in collaboration with the Network Site Specific Groups (NSSGs, now Cancer Alliance Expert Reference Groups), the Network GP Cancer Leads and the Cancer in the Community Group.
The forms have been agreed at a regional level and can be used by Primary Care to refer to any trust in the region. The forms are in line with the NICE guidance NG12: Suspected Cancer Recognition and Referral. They have been developed to be used as integrated forms in EMIS Web and System One GP clinical systems.

Breast Pain Pathway
The NENC Breast Pain Pathway was launched in Feb 2023.
Patients can be reassured that breast pain alone is not a symptom of cancer. The risk of finding cancer in a patient with breast pain is lower than the screened population incidence.
