Primary Care advice for side effects of cancer treatment (including immunotherapy, radiotherapy and patients at risk of immunosuppression)

As new cancer treatments are developed it is increasingly difficult for primary care to know what actions to take when patients present with new symptoms.

Some of these actions should be immediate.

Macmillan and the UK Oncology Nursing Society have created a tool to support Primary Care.

This has been shared with GPs via the education group Red Whale. The Alliance is signposting this helpful document. Many patients will receive the information booklet advising that they contact their treatment centre if they are unwell. But in reality, Primary Care often gets asked for advice.
